EXTENDED SCHOOLS

Hackney Free & Parochial is a full-service extended school, which means our doors are open outside usual school hours and that we aim to work with our students, families and the wider community in Hackney to help maximise the opportunities for learning, enrichment and enjoyment.

Extended Schools is a government initiative to help schools work with families and partners to help community development and parts of the Every Child Matters agenda.

We currently offer a range of Extended School initiatives, including:

• A wide ranging out-of-hours timetable
• Exciting opportunities in Sport and the Arts
• A full Saturday programme
• A Supplementary School, with a particular strength in Science and Maths
• A range of parenting support
• A new PTA (Parent Teacher Association)
• Holiday Programmes
• Adult Health & Fitness classes
• Adult English classes
• Other Adult Learning, including the Teaching Assistant training programme
• A venue for various external groups, such as local sports teams and Weight Watchers
• One-off events such as Family Health Day and the Hackney Senior Citizens Conference

The Extended School team at Hackney Free work closely with the PE (the school has Sports Specialist Status) and Inclusion departments internally, and with a range of external partners and The Learning Trust.
